Questions people ask between games

Is Checkers Talk free?

Yes. Checkers Talk is free to play, and every new adult account gets 1,000 coins to play for. Coins only raise the stakes at the bigger tables. They're for bragging, and can never be cashed out.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Checkers Talk plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Open it, sign in with Google, and you're at the board. On Android you can also play someone nearby with no internet at all.

Can we talk while we play?

Every game is a live voice call. You and your opponent hear each other the moment it happens, and there's chat too, for the one who refuses to unmute.

Can I play a friend online?

Yes. Send your link in the group chat. They tap it, sign in with one tap, and take the other side of your board. No friend around yet? A robot can sit across from you until they arrive.

Which checkers rules can I play?

Four. Checkers is American or English draughts on an 8 by 8 board: men move and jump forward, kings move one square any way, and a jump must be taken. Russian (shashki) lets men jump backwards and kings fly the length of a diagonal. International draughts is played on a 10 by 10 board, with the biggest capture compulsory. Turkish (dama) moves pieces straight, forward and sideways, on all 64 squares.

Is it safe for teens?

Players aged 13 to 17 only ever play other teens, never adults, and never for coins. Under 13s can't sign up.

Your move.

Somebody in your family has been waiting years to say "king me". Don't let them.
